The fun never ends around here
If you live around the DC metro area then you know there are always things happening. Which usually means…tourists. Also crazy traffic, blocked streets, closed metro stations, crowds, you name it. We definitely have it.
This Veteran’s Day HBO, Starbucks, and Chase partnered up to put together a free Concert for Valor on the National Mall. Performances include the Black Keys, Dave Grohl, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, Jessie J, and more, along with appearances by John Oliver, Jamie Foxx, Jack Black, Bryan Cranston, Bob Woodruff, and others.
Sounds cool right?
The operative word here is sounds because it will be insane.
Have you been on the National Mall with hoards of people? And by hoards I mean crap load of people? It’s insane. I try to avoid any and all crowds like those because, well, it’s insane. The last time I went down there for something big was the Rally to Restore Sanity. Alice and I were pretty strategic on what time to get there, what metro stop to get off at, and when to leave.
The other time I went down there was for Obama’s 2008 inauguration. In freezing cold weather. And then proceeded to walk back to Virginia.
Suffice it to say, it is insanity.
Oh and not all of us get the day off over here (I’m working today as is Matt and many others).
It’s a good thing I don’t ride the Blue Line on Metro because they completely shut that down.
Fun city I tell ya.
