Give me back my hour…or just take it
Possibly like many people around the world, I view the whole daylight savings thing to be literally a waste of time. It’s pointless, doesn’t save on energy, and as I learned from Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, it has nothing to do with farmers.
Pause here – I always, always wondered why farmers would even need to go forward or back an hour. It just never made sense to me.
To add to this, not every country around the world nor every state within the United States has daylight savings. Even those who do, don’t change the time during the same time of the year. In the US, the Bush administration (UGH) delayed the whole daylight savings thing by a few weeks in the fall and made it earlier in the spring, saying that it would help save energy.
Pause again – instead of trying to find other ways of saving energy such as putting money into research to find alternate, environmental friendly energy sources and more oversight on large corporations who are wreaking havoc on the environment, lets just make the whole time change later/earlier in the year. That makes sense.
Studies have been done on whether or not it even helps conserve energy (studies say no, it more than likely doesn’t).
My point is it’s stupid. And as John Oliver asked, why in the heck is it even still a thing?
