New floor!

Just as the title of this post says, we got new flooring! But only to the entrance of our place. Which is very tiny. Granted, we are probably the only people excited about this, but we had to stare at this ugly thing for the past three years:

old flooring

Cheap, faux wood, vinyl flooring that was put in when this place was built in the early 1980s. THAT’S RIGHT, still the original flooring even though there were two previous owners to our place. We saved up money and BAM we have new flooring.

We hired the same company that did our bathroom floors to do this floor as well since they did such a great job last time. I didn’t do it myself because I just don’t have the time to figure out how to do it, get and/or rent the tools needed, and do the precise cutting/measuring to lay down the tiles. Doing them in a diagonal direction is a little more complicated than square.

It’s all done! I love it! Now I just need to paint one of the walls light gray and we’re going to probably add a tiny bench/storage item down there for shoes. Maybe put up a thing to hang coats.

For now, I’m enjoying it. It’s like a breath of fresh air.

  1. I agree, that old floor had to go. Great looking new floor. I hadn’t even thought about a diagonal lay instead of a square one. How interesting! Small changes make the world of difference right? Congrats! Hang up your photos!!!!

Thanks! It was pretty awful. So glad we were finally able to change it. I was told that putting in flooring diagonally in a small space makes it look a litte bigger. We actually did the same thing in our bathrooms as well.

  2. Looks good. You could’ve done it. One weekend.

That’s just the thing, I don’t even have one weekend right now. Completely booked until end of August. Plus they completed it a lot faster than I would have.

  3. It’s amazing what the little things can do to make something look so fresh and new! Looks SO much better than the old flooring – nice and bright!
