An Organized Mess

You know those people who maintain tidy desks at all times, with little to no paper, have a paper-based and smartphone agenda? Who color code everything and stick by it? Who plan out their week, month, and set goals? And have mood, design, or dream boards?

Yours truly is the complete 180 of that. In fact if you want me to teach you how to live in chaos, please feel free to sign up to my daily class called Marie’s Life.

It’s actually a wonder I get up on time in the mornings for work and can put on pants correctly.

Scratch that. Sometimes I fumble and fall on my butt that early in the morning. It’s a Klassy Marie Thing.

In fact it’s an absolute miracle that I’ve planned or helped plan large events at previous jobs. I’m still trying to figure out how I even pulled it off.

I’ve desperately tried to be more organized and the farthest I’ve gotten in my 36 years of existence on this place we call Earth is maintaining a calendar on our fridge (so both Matt and I don’t forget things), put reminders and alarms on my phone, and stick post-its everywhere.

It’s not a pretty sight.

I think after three decades, I’ve started being ok with this and realized I’m a complete mess. Somewhat of an organized mess, but a mess nonetheless. It’s just me. I’m not going to ever change and instead of trying to, I’m trying to accept my little world of chaos. Because for all the ordered individuals in this world, people like me are still needed to bring a little whirlwind to your lives.

“Every morning I jump out of bed and step on a landmine. The landmine is me. After the explosion, I spend the rest of the day putting the pieces together.” ― Ray Bradbury
