I’m going to need a drink for this

Has anyone been watching the presidential debates? Either the Republican or Democratic or even both? Maybe just my nerdy self and nerdy friends on Twitter then?

It’s been entertaining, to say the least, but quite informative.

Wait no, scratch that. It’s been mainly entertaining and only the first Democratic debate has been informative. The Republican debates have been………a clownfest.

I need a lot of alcohol to watch the Republican debates. And by a lot I mean about a glass of wine or one bottle of beer because I’m a lightweight.

5’2″ folks. Tiny human. Ok tiny adult human. My tall friends can attest to this.

But back to the debates. When the Republicans speak this is what I hear:

“NO RIGHTS FOR WOMEN! NO RIGHTS FOR MINORITIES! KICK THE IMMIGRANTS OUT! NO FREE HANDOUTS! TAX BREAKS FOR BUSINESSES AND THE RICH! TAKE BACK ‘MERICA!!!!!!” *shots fired in the air from some random guns that everyone in the audience has*

Here’s what I hear when Democrats speak:

“We need to reform the campaign system. Equal pay for women. Reform immigration. Cut down on student loans. Reign in the banks and wall street. Reproductive health rights for all women. Health care for all.”

You get the point.

I’ll be honest, I’m a flat out liberal that leans more towards socialism and believes in a strong education system for all, equal rights for all, a government that doesn’t spy on its own people (p.s. basically every government does this), health care for all, social programs for all (but mainly those who need it most), and last but not least I’m a pacifist.

So when a Republican opens their mouth, my brain metaphorically explodes and I cry on the inside but start stomping around yelling obscenities.

It’s not a pretty sight. Pretty hilarious, but not pretty.

But here’s the quandary, the WTF of it all that boggles my mind to no end:

Why do those who would benefit from the many programs and policies that Democrats would like to pass (but can’t because CONGRESS) continue to support the Republican party? Why do they keep voting in conservative extremists who do not have their best interest in mind?
